Osun Breaking News: INEC Announced the Date of the Osun Local Government Election. 


The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC), has make the announcement that the Osun Local Government Election is to be held on 27th of January, 2018. 


This announcement was made public by the commission’s Chairman, Otunba Segun Oladitan following the agreement of stakeholders who were present at the Secretariat of OSIEC in Osogbo.... 

According to the chairman when addressing a press conference at The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) office in Osogbo on the 18th of October, 2017.

The elections would hold in 378-wards across the state of Osun and that only the councilors would be elected during the poll because the state would use parliamentary system of government at the local government level: said the commission’s Chairman, Otunba Segun Oladitan.

Oladitan sought the cooperation of political parties, stakeholders and all the people of the state of Osun to give full support to help the commission achieve a successful poll.

He also added that local government elections could not take place in the state for the last 10 years and that the cases have been resolved in the court, and now that the litigation has been cleared the commission is set for the elections in January 2018.

The Chairman also added that the commission wouldn't collect money for nomination from candidates but the political parties would pay certain administrative charges to the commission’s bank account.

The Chairman as well make it public to the news men that were present at the secretariat of OSIEC in Osogbo that 36 political parties have register to participate in the upcoming local government chairman election and assured that the commission would conduct a free and fair credible elections.
